You Are Your Attention
We have a certain amount of breath granted daily and it fuels our being, enabling us to do our daily activities by using our minds to orchestrate our life and tend our interest, guiding us to be productive. We operate by investing our attention in what we want to do, what we want to accomplish, what we are interested in or what we want to know. Whatever you put your mind on, or pay attention to, you think about and become or get. You are your attention!
This phenomena “attention spend”, is a driving force of our commercialized world. Billions of dollars are being invested to find the best and most seductive ways to attract our attention so that we will pay attention and then they will get us to buy or do what being pitched to us.
We share our attention so freely with others, mostly unaware of how it is being manipulated and depleted by them. Our precious is used up, draining us into a near-comatose state. We vegetate in front of TV or cruise the internet for hours, bombarding ourselves with radiation, only to then go and spend our hard-earned cash buying unnecessary stuff, hoping to achieve that promised ‘happiness’. Products are glamorized so that we are encouraged to desire things we don’t even need. We are made to believe that we must have this or that to keep up with the rest of the up scaled crowed. You have to have the best, we want the best, while the once who really benefit are the advertisers, merchants and their agents. It is there self interest and bank accounts which are inflated, now a days in the millions, while our attention is being is spend so too our earnings.
We first have to become aware of this cleaver manipulation and understand and realize that it is not those external purchases or pleasures that will give us real happiness. It is in our innate nature, as a part of the manifested Creation, to seek for the Whole from where we manifested. Like a child needs its mother to feel safe, cared for and complete, this search for happiness is a very genuine one in all of us. And most advertisers thrive on this search, cashing in on it, commercializing goods and emotions and getting us to waste our precious time, earnings, energy and life by giving it our attention.
We need an antidote so that we can retrieve our attention, our focus, our energy from external and place it back on our Self. We need to bring it back within, to our centre, so that we can be less manipulated, less restless, become more calm, solid, conscientious, focused, self-controlled and, having high self-esteemed, much kinder human beings.
So how can we do that? How can we retrieve our out flowing energy, our out going attention, and reversed the process? We need to find a system, or a way, something that can do that and put a stop to this external draining of energy, because energy flows where attention goes.
Meditation is a only sure antidote. There meditation-no concentrating on ant thing material, or anything of the world such as external objects candlelight, ocean waves, sunrises or birdsongs; verbal mantras or mental affirmations or visualizations-brings our attention that to our Source within. It is a natural process of connecting our self with the Divine within. Other methods are not subtle enough to hold our attention to escort us within.
Our mind is so subtle that only something even more subtle can capture and hold our attention, to guide our energy back within. This is a true spiritual meditation process, which has been practilized in exactly the same manner by all great souls since time immemorial, to achieve the goal of eternal inner peace, contentment and enlightenment.
Only that which is spiritual can saturate our Being. It is merging with the Holy Spirit. Those who know how to do this should serve humanity and help the living Master bring peace on Earth by spreading this method, lighting up others so that they too can peacefully shine.
Meditation also means living in balance with the material world, embracing it and using it to facilitate our life on Earth and making it more comfortable while not letting it become the be-all and end-all of our existence. This way we can live with higher understanding of our purpose so be less stressed by what we lack-due to the commercialization of our life existence-but more trusting in the abundance and prosperity God is granting us by using our commonsense, our creativity, our talents, our gifts and our skills.
This means, knowing that deep within the core of our being there is this beautiful existence that wants to shine and merge with its source. This means knowing that there is more than enough for every one and plenty to go around. This means spreading goodwill, so that love, compassion, kindness, generosity and peace will reign with in us and on Earth. But only if we know how to earn it and where to spend it…because we are our intention.
